Are you ready to ROOOOOOOOOOOCK????? Ok that was so not funny. This is a review of another sequel for the Guitar Hero franchise. As a veteran to the GH games and a Metallica fan I was jumping up and down like a little girl when I found out that Metallica and GH teamed up for a game. In case you have been living under a soundproof rock, Metallica is one of the forefathers of a music genre called “Thrash Metal” in the early 80s. The band had famed records (Master of Puppets, Metallica aka The Black Album) and some failures (Re-Load and the infamous St.Anger). The band recently tried to win b
ack there old fans with Death Magnetic which was a good start. Graphics: B+
The whole band is motion captured very nicely. The way the bands lead singer James Hedfield prances around the stage and singing vocals, Lars Ulrich banging the drums and Robert Trujillo on bass spinning around like a friggin’ top is done very well. Other than that and the sweet graphics of the instruments it’s solid.
Sound: A
What can I say about the sound? The sound is perfect. You can hear every instrument in every song. Everything is perfectly balanced out.
Gameplay: A
This game is for the GH enthusiasts. Playing this game on expert is the only way to get the Metallica experience. Since most their songs on here are most moderately fast to break finger speeds. GH: Metallica has some of their famous long epic songs like Mercyful Fate (which feels longer than Freebird) and some of their slower ballads like The Unforgiven. All in all, gameplay is great!
Final Thoughts
GH: Metallica may not appeal to everyone. If you are a fan of Metallica than I highly recommend this title. Some people might be turned off because of its price tag. This game is nothing more than a expansion to GH: World Tour. The game has only a total of 48 songs which half are Metallica songs. So that means it doesn’t have much variety of music like other GH titles. It does have other bands like: Queen, Motorhead, and Alice In Chains. Verterns that are experts on drums can play with a new difficulty called “Expert +” which means you can use an extra bass pedal just like the Metallica drummer; Lars Ulrich uses. Unlockables are mostly bonus footage and info of certain songs is cool but NO OTHER SONGS!!!!!!!
Overall Score: B+
