I remember as a young lad getting a sega genesis when i turned 8 years old.  It was a BIG step up from the NES that I had.  The first game that I got was Sonic The Hedgehog.  It came with the system so it was the only game I got and only had for a while.  I remember that I fell in love with the game.  I thought it was 100 times better than Super Mario.  With its bright colors, kick ass soundtrack and sound effects, the genesis was a staple in my childhood.  When I heard about that they made a compilation of the best sega games, I felt like I was 8 again.  I was pissed when I couldn’t find it but i finally did, and man I’m glad I found it.  SUGC is a compilation of over 40 of the best Sega games ever.  From the Golden Axe trilogy,Phantasy Star, Sonic trilogy, even a personal favorite game(s) of all time, the Streets of Rage trilogy to underrated classics like Vectorman and Comix Zone.

Gameplay (A):  The games play looks just as they did on the orginal sega system.  Nothing really changed from Sega to the next gen. consoles.

Controls (B-) : Some game’s control better than others.  For example, Sonic The Hedgehog controls better than Shinobi.  At times its hard to kill a enemy or jump on a ledge on Shinobi.  The button layout isn’t complicated, with most games using only 2 buttons and the d-pad.

Graphics B+: Playing this game in HD is pretty awesome.  But it still has that Sega 16/32 bit flare that still holds in certain games and looks butt ugly in other games but it gets a higher grade for the option to filter the colors so the graphics looks like a watercolor painting.

Final Thoughts:

If any person owned a Sega……GO AND COP THIS GAME!!!  Playing this game brings me back to a time that I would give anything to go back and relive.  These games are simple to play and fun to get into.  Its good to play an old school game and go back in time and just let the wave of nostalgia wash over you.
