Aro Turns Your Android Into A Personal Assistant
-
With numerous emails, texts, calendar appointments and general communication coming through your phone on a daily basis, wouldn’t it be nice to always have a helping hand to ensure you don’t miss anything. Well, let’s introduce you to Aro whose goal is turn your Android phone into a living and breathing personal assisting with the existing applications and features already on your phone.
Aro automatically connects your email, text messages, voice mails, calendar and social networks to the people who sent them, so that you can find what you really need, when you need it with a simple touch. Aro provides an intuitive interface that speeds up your day. Aro’s website continues the description by stating , “The Aro system automatically learns what’s important in your life—the people, places, dates and organizations you care about most. In your communications, Aro automatically identifies people, places, events, dates, organizations and locations. From any recognized term, Aro offers quick action menus to speed up your day.The unique Aro experience is powered by advanced web services: next generation natural language processing and semantic data analytics services. Aro gives you the power to see through the clutter and focus your mobile life.”
Aro has recently benefited from a $20 million investment from Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. The product is beta so you must sign up for a beta invitation. A good example that shows you Aro’s potential is if you get an email inviting you to a birthday party in two weeks at the best sushi restaurant in your city. As the email comes through, there will be specific sections of text highlighted which allow you to tap on them. In the example above, the name of the sushi restaurant, the date of the function and the person sending you the invite would be highlighted. Click on the date and Aro already knows enough about the event to be prepared to add it to your calendar with all of the details. Click on the sushi restaurant and you will have the option of searching for a map of where the restaurant is as well as going straight to their home page. Click on the person sending you the invite and you can add them to your contact list (if they aren’t already a contact), find every email that they have sent you OR every email they are mentioned (very cool). All of this can be done by a simple tap on the highlighted text.
Take a look at the video below of Aro in action. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section. I have a feeling the overwhelming majority of Android users will be getting Aro.
