Big Play D-fence not enough to Rise Up!

  • I’m sure, that if before this game began anyone would of asked the question. Will the Saints defeat the Falcons in the dome if Drew Brees is going to throw 2 crucial interceptions to defensive lineman? I know even the Saints fans would have already had a taste of defeat in their mouths. But despite huge interceptions from @JohnAbraham55 & Chauncey Davis, who returned his into the south endzone the Falcons still managed to come up short. I hope @JohnAbraham55 didn’t receive any flack for being tackle by Brees because it was a tremendous play. Chauncey Davis’s run to the endzone had an eerie resemblance to Leon Lett’s goof up against the Buffalo bills when Beebe of the bills ran him down to make one of the greatest caused fumbles plays of the 90’s. Hat’s off to both great plays.

A stat for the Falcons that has to be a sight for sore Is Michael Turner’s 17 carries for 48 yards. Not to mention 1 carry went for 27 yards, which doesn’t leave a lot of damage done for the carries in between. Our running game is so crucial to what the Falcons do on offense. No running game leaves no opportunities for play action. Tony Gonzalez really felt the impacts of ineffective play-action passing. Tony only had 2 catches for 17 yards. Off the top of my head, I would have to think last night’s performance was the least productive of the season. Michael Jenkins shined at times last night with 5 catches for 40 yards, just ask Tracy Porter (starting right corner for Saints). He was the victim of a drive that exposed his lack of coverage against Jenkins and eventually ended with a touchdown pass sailing over his head to Jenkins. On the flip side of things the combination of Brees to Robert Meachem was huge. Meachem pulled in 10 passes for 101 yards. The rest of the yards were spread evenly over the other 7 recievers with catches. The Falcons didn’t have any one hundred yard performances from any of their receivers, including fan favorite @roddywhiteTV.

Even throwing 2 interceptions, the quarterback challenge was won by Drew “cool” Breese over Matty “ice”. Breese went 35 for 49 with 302 yards vs. Matty’s 15 for 29 with 148 yards total. Both quarterbacks threw one touchdown.  I think Matt Ryan will eventually be able to win the quarterback challenges as his successful career continues.

The falcons should clinch home field advantage next week vs. the pathetic Carolina Panthers. If not, home field goes thru New Orleans which we don’t even want to imagine happening with it being for the taking of the Falcons.

Man these Falcons are sooo suspect. And please stop comparing Matt Ryan to Upper Echelon Quarterbacks. He’s ok to good.. but not great.
